One day back in 1996, my phone rang, it was Doc Barendse, a great friend and mentor at the time. He called to ask if I would consider giving drum lessons, one of his guitar students had a brother who would love to learn to play drums.

My first question to him was, “Do you think I am able to” (Because he knew me very well, and knew my ability, I trusted him) Yes, he replied. “Then let’s do it” I said.

And that was the beginning of my journey. I started small, and was always driving to the students, until they became too many. I ended up having lessons in a spare room in the house, and finally that also became too small, I employed the brother of a friend Matthew Smit, and we moved into the studio, our current location:
